January Favourites

It’s finally February and end of what felt like the longest month ever. January was a busy month for me as I started a new job, I felt I wasn’t right for the job role so I found a new job and handed my notice in. I now have all of February to concentrate on family life and the blog before I start my new job. Without further ado here’s what I loved in January and helped with my January blues.

Beauty Favourites

Hand Cream

Working in a school kitchen washing what felt like a thousand pots, left my hands feeling very dry and sore. So hand cream became my saviour and after every shift and before bed I made sure to religiously apply hand cream to make them softer and not as sore.

Bayliss & Harding sweet mandarin and Grapefruit Shower Cream.

I’m on my second bottle of this shower gel/cream. It lathers up nicely, leaving a nice smelling citrus smell (Fruity smells are my favourite). It leaves skin feeling soft and clean. I can’t say how long the smell lasts after the shower as I religiously apply body moisturisers and oils after my shower.

Lush Dream Cream

This moisturiser has been a life saver this past month because the cold weather and central heating have wreaked havoc on my skin turning what normally is soft as a baby’s bottom skin into a dry rough mess. After applying this cream after a shower it returns my skin back to its former glory. A little goes a long way with this cream so a tub will last you a while. The cream is non-greasy and applies like a dream (see what I did there), as it’s fast absorbing. The only downside is it’s not the nicest smelling moisturiser out there.

Marc Jacobs Matte Highliner Gel Eye Crayons in Earthquake & Deja-Blue

I received these two highliners complimentary from Influenster and John Lewis in exchange for an honest review. I’m a huge eyeliner fan and wear eyeliner on a daily basis so I was excited to receive these two beauties. Earthquake is a dark brown shade which is also the perfect shade for my eyebrows so I sometimes use this highliner to fill them in. I love a multi-use product. The Deja blue is a pale sky blue. The formula of these products is so creamy and applies like a dream it makes applying eyeliner so easy even for a makeup novice like me. It’s long lasting, smudge proof even on the rainiest of days. The colour payoff of these eyeliners is intense. I would definitely buy these highliners in the future in different colours.

Fashion Favourites

Dune Rose Embroidered bag

My other half bought me this bag for Christmas after me subtly dropping hints about what I wanted for Christmas and telling him to read my gift guide. The boy did good and managed to get me this beauty. This bag is now my everyday bag as it’s big enough to carry my everyday essentials in, looks stylish, and goes with most of my outfits.

Frends Layla Headphones in oil slick

I got these headphones three years ago for Christmas from my other half, little did I know that when I asked for them we were expecting a little bundle of joy and the need for headphones would be made redundant. Fast forward to this month and I’ve loved using these again, especially for the commute to work. These headphones not only look stylish but the quality of sound is really good and they fit my tiny ears perfectly without hurting my ears.

Hell Bunny Elvira Coat in Burgundy

This coat has been a godsend this month with sub-zero temperatures, rain, hail, sleet and snow. This coat kept me warm whilst making sure I still stood out from the crowd.

Lifestyle Favourites

The End of The F***ing world

Last month me and my partner binge watched this short series in a day. It’s a dark indie comedy that follows two 17-year-old outsiders embark on a road trip that makes them seem like the modern day Bonnie & Clyde. Each episode is only 20 minutes long but it has you laughing, cringing and even crying. I also loved the music and fashion in the series. It’s a must-see, it’s available on Netflix and All4.

The Misadventures of Catie Bloom – Brooke Stanton.

Sticking to my goals for 2018 of trying to read more books I read this little gem. It’s a lighthearted book that tells the story of a renowned lifestyle blogger Catie Bloom. The only thing is she’s told a few white lies about her lifestyle and how domesticated she really is. Is she about to get found out? Will people cover for her and will she find love? I enjoyed reading this book as it was lighthearted, heartwarming and funny and easy to read plus had a good storyline that left you to want to keep reading.

What were your January Favourites and do you have any book recommendations let me know in the comments?

Thanks for Reading

What I Got For Christmas 2017.

Hi, my beauty’s. Happy New Year!! Hope you all enjoyed Christmas if you celebrate it and if not hope you enjoyed the break. I love reading what I got for Christmas and Birthday posts. I know there’s a love-hate relationship with them as there can be seen as bragging but personally, I see it as more sharing the love for your gifts and showing appreciation. I was so spoilt and lucky this year to receive many beautiful gifts from family. I am truly grateful to you all for the presents that you chose and it just shows that you know me well. So thank you again. I just want to say for me Christmas isn’t about just presents, but spending time with loved ones and am grateful that I get to do that.

Dune Red Crossbody bag

So a red bag was on my Christmas list and I wasn’t disappointed when received This beauty as it’s the perfect red colour, spacious and feels good quality and looks more expensive than it’s price-tag.

Red Suedette Gloves

Another item that was on my list was a pair of red gloves, if you haven’t noticed by now (if you follow my blog or on social media) I love Red. These gloves are touch-screen compatible because of theirs nothing worse than having to remove your gloves so you can answer that call.

River Island Red Purse.

I love this purse I was so happy I received this purse. I actually had my eye on this bag, I didn’t know there had the purse. It’s a high-quality purse feels expensive and looks expensive. I just love it.

Skinnydip Mojito Crossbody Bag

This bag is just me!!! I love quirky items like this (I also own a watering can handbag). Mojitos are also one of my favourite cocktails. I can’t wait to use this bag.

Skinnydip pink palm tree bag

How cute is this little bag especially with the palm tree charm. I can’t wait to use it.

This item was on my gift guide. It’s even cuter in real life, holds the perfect amount of tea and also looks cute as a brush holder.

Real Techniques Enhanced Eye Set

These brushes have been on my list for a while now so I was so happy when I received these and so far there have not disappointed me.

Zara Grey Pearl Beanie Hat

In case you couldn’t tell I love hats any type of hats, any colour. I can’t wait to wear this and style it.

Grey Fur Ear Muffs

I was complaining that my ears are always cold and hurt in the cold and I always try them on in the shop without buying so I was chuffed when I received these.

Read this If you want to be Instagram Famous book.

Any book that gives tips on how to grow on Instagram is a winner in my eyes. I’m hoping this book will help me grow my Instagram following and give me useful photography tips which I need to work on.

Harry Potter Shirt and Short Pj set

I got over 6 pairs of PJs for Christmas. Believe it or not, I spend most of my time in pjs. I also love harry potter and own half of the Primark Harry Potter pj collection.

Tan shearling gloves.

One of my favourite coats that I wear is a tan shearling coat so a pair of gloves to match is great I like to be all matchy-matchy.

Tan shearling Ear-Muffs

Another pair of Ear-muffs to match my gloves and coat.

Morrocan tea glasses

How cute are these glasses featuring a Morrocan print? I don’t drink much green tea (I intend to start)? So so far I’ve been drinking G&T’s and other cocktail concussions from them.

Gold photo frame

This photo frame is a great addition to my other frame I also love the quote that is in the frame “she believed she could so she did. ”

Mustard flower tassel earrings

Expect to see these earrings a lot in the next few months.

Blogging for creatives book

I can’t wait to read this and learn more about blogging and improve my blog.

River Island lace-up vinyl boots

I love these boots I can’t wait to wear them so expect to see them on here soon.

Dune Black rose embroidered tote bag

This bag featured in my gift guide and the Other half must have read my blog and got me it (he’s a good un). I’ve used this bag nonstop since Christmas. It’s the perfect size for carrying my essentials and looks really expensive.

Zara black & white checked blanket scarf

Who doesn’t love a blanket scarf? Their come in really handy and can be used for a variety of things. I love the feel of this one and can’t wait to use it.

My Goals For 2018

Hi my beauty’s, Can you believe we’re already in 2018? A new year, a new start and new goals. I’m not one to really make goals or new years resolutions as I don’t like to commit to anything. But since I surprised myself with actually managing to be still here blogging 9 months later, I’ve decided to set goals for the new year. for the last few months, I’ve been setting monthly blogging goals. I think it really helps you to stay motivated and when you achieve your goals you get a real sense of achievement. So without further ado here are my 2018 goals, let me know what your goals are?

Personal goals

  • I want to start meditating and practising Yoga. Meditation is supposed to be really good for your mind, body and soul. As I hope to be more positive in 2018 I’m hoping meditation can help. Yoga is also meant to be also good for the mind body and soul. As someone who is the least flexible person in the world, if by end of the year I can touch my toes I will have achieved my goal.
  • Have a morning and night routine. 2018 will be the year that I find a routine that fits both me and my daughter, to help gain more productivity and be more organised. Morning and night routines are also one of my favourites to watch and read (send me your links please).
  • I also want to read more, I mean I read blogs and social media posts every day but I wanna take time out to read a book. It really helps me sleep and escape from reality.
  • My most important goal by far is to be more positive in 2018. As I’m called negative Nicolle, I really want to get rid of this nickname and have a more positive outlook on life. I plan to do this by not comparing myself to others, not always thinking the worst case scenario, if I’ve got nothing nice to say then I won’t say it and rid myself of negativity including people, objects etc.
  • Take breaks from social media. I realised in 2017 I was addicted to being on my phone and browsing social media. Having a baby can be very lonely, and being on my phone and social media became my lifeline, but at a cost, I stopped socialising with friends and family. Being a blogger social media is the way we promote our blog and brand, so I’m not planning on going MIA altogether but I am planning on taking a day or two a week where I stay off social media and the phone to spend time with loved ones and well be more social, Which brings me to my next point.
  • Be more social and get out more. Having a baby can be very lonely and not being in the working world you can become very isolated. 2017 I realised I was spending more and more time in the house which left me feeling really down. So for 2018, I plan to leave the house to be more sociable whether it’s to go for coffee and drinks with friends, join a playgroup so I can interact with other mums, and join a fitness class.

Lifestyle Goals

  • I plan to be more healthy in 2018 and get fitter. I plan to do this by drinking more water, eating more fruit and vegetables and be more aware of what I’m actually putting into my body. I also want to try and workout at least twice a week and do more walking. I’m not planning on cutting out chocolate or sugar or been really hard on myself but be more careful and eat everything in moderation. As I’m the type of girl that will eat a packet of biscuits and a whole family size bar of Chocolate in one sitting.
  • I plan to make 2018 the year that I start saving money monthly towards a deposit on a house.
  • We also are planning to move out in 2018 to a more suitable rented accommodation. As the house we live in at the moment is not child-friendly, has damp issues and no garden.

Career Goals

  • I need to find a job that fits around my family life. As in 2017, I had to leave my job of 4 years as it didn’t fit around my daughter and put a strain on my relationship.
  • I also plan to start and complete a personal stylist course.

Blogging and Social Media Goals

  • I plan to be more sociable on social media as I often just scroll without partaking in chats, commenting on posts and retweeting others work. So I plan to show more love and hopefully make some blogger friends.
  • I also plan to post a blog post at least once a week and have more posts scheduled just in case life gets in the way.
  • I hope I reach my yearly goals on the blog and social media even on the ever difficult to grow Instagram.
  • I hope to collaborate with a brand on a blog post in 2018. As for me, this is a blogging milestone I would love to reach.

There you go, these are my 2018 goals, I hope to achieve before 2019. Some easier than others. What are your 2018 goals?
