Summer Favourites

Hi, my beauties hope all is well? Since I’ve been MIA recently and not been uploading my monthly favourites I’d thought I’d share with you today the things I loved and used this summer.

Summer Faves - Makeup

Clinique High Impact Mini Mascara

This mascara has been my go mascara this summer, it instantly lifts lashes and adds volume and thickness. It doesn’t clump and lasts all day.

Nivea Tinted Moisturiser -Natural

One of my all-time favourite beauty products, its perfect for summer as it’s a lightweight formula that contains an SPF. It provides skin with a light coverage that looks like your skin but only more radiant.

L’Oréal infallible Sticks in 501 -Oh My Jewels & 210 Cappuccino.

I use these beauty sticks on a daily basis I use the 501 oh my jewels shade as a highlighter as it provides skin with a subtle highlighter that gives you a dewy look. I use the shade 210 cappuccino as a contour shade. It’s rather warm toned so only a little bit is needed as if not it can make you look orange. It definitely adds warmth and definition to my face.

Sleek Makeup Face Form – Medium

This Palette is my go-to face and eye Palette containing a contour shade that is a perfect colour as it’s an ashy colour, it also contains a bronzer and a highlighter. I’ve also been using it as an eyeshadow palette this summer by wearing the bronzer shade in the crease of my eye and the highlighter shade on my lid. I love a multitasking palette saving time, money and room in my makeup bag what more could you ask for.

Sleek blush by 3 – Lace

This blush palette is perfect for summer as it contains two coral colours and a pink which look great when paired with a tan. This palette contains two matte and one shimmer highly pigmented blushes.

Summer Favourites - Concealer

Along Came Betty All Concealed Concealer Kit.

When clearing out my makeup I came across this forgotten treasure. It contains two concealers (a cream one & a solid one) and a brightening under eye setting powder. The cream concealer is perfect for concealing under eyes and even minimises the look of my eye bags. Which is something I definitely need because sleep is something of a luxury these days? The solid concealer is perfect at concealing imperfections such as spots and cuts. I love this concealer kit and will probably cry when it’s gone as it’s been discontinued.

Summer Favourites - Bronzer

St Moritz Bronzing Powder Light

Another product that I found while clearing out. Don’t you just love a good old clear out especially when you find so many forgotten treasures? This bronzer is one of my favourites at providing a sun-kissed glow as its quite shimmery you only need a little bit and you look glowing as well as sun-kissed.

Summer Faves - Skincare

Vita Coco Coconut Oil

My holy grail beauty product as I not only use it as a moisturiser I use it as a hair mask. When used as a Moisturiser it leaves skin soft and reduces the appearance of stretch marks.

Jack Wills English Velvet Body Lotion

This body lotion leaves my skin so soft and keeps skin moisturised for roughly 24 hours. It has a rich texture more like a body butter. It absorbs easily into the skin and has a pleasant fragrance to it that smells like roses. (Floral scents aren’t really my thing).

Summer Favourites - Mud Mask

N-Spa Skin Glow Mud Mask

I love this mask and try to use once on a weekly basis. With kaolin Clay and charcoal as it’s main ingredients, this mud masks helps draw out impurities, unblocking pores, and reducing the appearance of them to leave skin looking more radiant and clear. After using this mask my skin looks more radiant and the appearance of my pores less noticeable. It leaves my skin feeling smooth.

Fake Tan

Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tan Moisturiser – Light

We’ve been quite lucky this year and had lots of sunshine. So fake tan wasn’t needed as much as normal. I used this tan on my legs so it matched the rest of my body. It has a nice apricot smell and leaves your skin feeling moisturised.

Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam in Dark

I love this self-tanning foam as it has a gorgeous coconut smell that just reminds you of a holiday. It leaves a natural looking tan and fades gradually.

Why taking a break from Social Media was good for my Mental Health.

Hi, my beauties, hope all is well. If you follow me on here and social media you may have noticed that I have been absent for the last couple of months on both my blog and social media sites such as Instagram and Twitter. I just felt like I needed a break from Social media and being online for my mental health. In today’s society where we seem to share everything online and are obsessed with having a perfect image. I just didn’t feel comfortable doing so. Anyway, without further ado, today’s post is all about why I took a break and how I learnt to overcome them thoughts and also share my summer outfits with you that I didn’t feel comfortable with sharing at first.

One of the main reasons I stopped posting on here and Instagram was my own insecurities about my body. Being a fashion blogger and mostly posting photos of myself in outfits it’s important that I feel comfortable in my body as we all know the internet can be a cruel place and you have to have a thick skin to deal with nasty comments. I’m normally body confident but the last few months whenever we did photoshoots I didn’t like the pictures I could just see my mum-tum and thick thighs. Normally I wouldn’t care and post because yes I do have thick thighs and my tummy is not as flat as it used to be, because instead of going to the gym I like gin. But it’s not so easy when your biggest insecurities at the moment are in front of you and going to be shared online with strangers in a world full of Instagram models. Since my break away I’ve learnt that they will always be times where I feel insecure about my body and that’s totally normal. It’s about embracing the skin you’re in and loving it. I’ve also found following people online with similar figures to me helps me feel more comfortable so I follow people like Lily Melrose and Helen Anderson.

Ok, I admit it, I won’t lie sometimes while browsing social media a bit of the green-eyed monster comes out to play. This is normal right? It’s hard to not get jealous when browsing social media when people portray that they have a perfect life, with their designer wardrobe, Instagram perfect house and avocado on toast for breakfast. When in reality you’re sat there in your old PJs, in a house that smells of damp with coco-pops for breakfast for the umpteenth time that week. It’s also hard when everyone seems to be growing and you’re still stuck in the same place. I’ve learnt since my time away what people choose to show online is not necessarily real, (cough Scarlett London cough) and fake it for the gram. I’ve also learnt that I put too much pressure on myself and don’t give myself as much credit as I should. Yes, my Instagram feed may not be perfect and my posts not regular but theirs more to life. I’m a mother, a housewife and I also work part-time and that in itself is bloody hard work without putting pressure on myself to look like I’ve just stepped off the catwalk and made avocado on toast for breakfast every day.

Life is not a competition we all go at our own pace and if we put hard work and dedication we should reach our goals it might just take us longer than others.

Red polka Dot Dress Outfit

At the beginning of August, I lost my uncle who I was very close too. Grief and losing someone makes you look at life totally different and reassess your own life. It made me think that life is really about living and that we focus too much on the stuff that in the end does it really matter (cue me singing Linkin Park), how much money we make, or by his many followers we have. I mean, by all means, create a life for yourself and your family to live comfortably and if blogging is your passion blog away to your heart’s content. I guess what I’m trying to say is life’s too short and people won’t remember you for how much money you made or your followers online. They will remember you for the memories you shared and the times you had together. That’s why in the last month or so instead of socialising online, I’ve actually been socialising offline and made new friends and hopefully created some nice memories (some of which are a blur, as I do enjoy my gin).

Hopefully, I’m back now and look forward to blogging more about all things fashion and beauty related.

Product Empties – Aka Rubbish Hoarding

Product Empties All.jpgHi, my beauty’s hope all is well, sorry for the lack of posting I’ve been just so damn tired lately with running around after a toddler all day and then work and then when I finally get time to blog I end up asleep. This post is the products that I mostly used up till they were empty with the exception of a few that I just didn’t get on with. This year I decided instead of just using products just a handful of times then becoming bored and forgetting their existed and moving onto the next best thing, I was not going to buy any till I used up products. I’ve gotta say finally finishing products is strangely satisfying. Anyways without further ado here are my product empties (rubbish hoarding since January -April).

Product Epties Haircare.jpg

Pantene – In Shower foam Conditioner (Repair & Protect)

I was excited to try this novelty conditioner to see how it compared to normal Pantene conditioners. My hair just didn’t feel as conditioned as when using normal conditioners. I think this was due to having thick hair and the conditioners lightweight texture. It might work better if you have thinner hair.

Repurchase: No sorry Pantene I’ll stick to your normal conditioners in future.

Natural Classic Henna Treatment Wax

I was neither unimpressed or blown away by this product. It’s overall a good hair mask for how much it costs and the amount of product you get. It did leave hair feeling soft and shiny.

Repurchase: probably if we were to cross paths again.

Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo & Conditioner

These products smelt nice and left hair clean. They Also left my hair feeling super soft and looking shiny

Repurchase: yes when it’s on offer

Johnson’s Baby Shampoo

If your a parent, then it’s highly likely that this in your bathroom cabinet. Sensitive for baby’s skin and hair and eyes. It smells really nice too. It’s also great for cleaning makeup brushes.

Repurchase: already have done

Product Emties Shower

Bayliss & Harding Sweet Mandarin & Grapefruit Shower Cream & Bodywash

It leaves skin feeling soft and has a nice citrus smell.

Repurchase: No, because I already have a different Bayliss and Harding set ready to be used and I normally receive one of these gift sets for presents at birthdays and Christmas.

Facial Skincare.

Product Empties - Facial Skincare

Lush catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask

I didn’t finish using this as it dried up easy but on the times I did use it left skin feeling smooth and soft and eased redness. It also didn’t cause the skin to break out like other masks can do.

Repurchase: no the expiry date is too soon for me.

Revuele Black Mask (peel off) pro-collagen

I didn’t get on with this product at all. It felt good when on the skin, but didn’t remove blackheads, only hairs and wasn’t easy to remove. A week or so after use when the hairs were growing back it caused my skin to break out and didn’t feel great.

Repurchase: No!!!!

Nip & Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Cleansing Pads

These pads were great for saving time and left skin feeling clean and plumped up. Their removed makeup easily.

Repurchase: Yes if on offer.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

A great makeup remover that I probably will always use.

Repurchase: already have done. ✅

Simple Kind To Skin Dual Effect Eye Make-Up Remover.

I really disliked this product, it didn’t remove eye makeup easily at all and stung my eyes. The bottle also leaked that’s why it’s empty.

Repurchase: No!!

Body Care

Product Empties - Bodycare.jpg

Vita Coco Coconut Oil

I love this product, my holy grail product that I can’t live without. It’s the best thing to use on stretch marks and also great to use as a hair mask. It also works wonders at whitening teeth if you try oil pulling.

Repurchase: already have done ✅

Body shop Coconut Cream Body Scrub

This product didn’t suit me at all, it left my skin feeling like it was on fire.

Repurchase: No!!!

Body Shop Coconut Body Butter

This product smelt lovely and Coconutty. I love the smell of coconuts as it reminds me of holiday. This body butter left my skin feeling soft and moisturised. It wasn’t a greasy formula so you could get ready straight after.

Repurchase: Yes I would.

Superdrug My Little Star New Mum Nipple Cream.

I purchased this to use after the birth of Ava-Rose as I intended on breastfeeding but due to circumstances, I wasn’t able to. So me being me and been a cheapskate I didn’t want to get rid of this product so I googled if you could use it as a hand cream and foot cream and as it’s main ingredient is petroleum which is the main product In Vaseline you could. It’s quite greasy so I used it just before bed and I woke up with the softest hands and feet. So my top hack for baby soft hands and feet use nipple cream. It’s cheaper than most hand creams as well.

Repurchase: Yes!!

Palmers Cocoa Butter Original Formula – Solid

I’ve been a long fan of palmers cocoa butter products for years due to how good there are for Moisturising my skin and I love the chocolate smell. I was into oil based products when I purchased this. It’s a really good moisturiser and left my skin soft and smooth as it’s a solid formula it is quite oily so I did have to wait quite a bit before dressing. It also helped minimise the appearance of scars and stretch marks. A little of this product goes a long way so a tub lasts for a long time.

Repurchase: Yes.

Product Empties - Makeup.jpg

L’Oréal Infallible 24h Foundation

I purchased this after seeing a YouTuber recommend it and saying it was a dupe for the MAC studio fix fluid foundation as it has a yellowish tint. You know your girl loves a good dupe. This foundation was high coverage, easy to blend, lasted for a good 7 hours which is rare for me. It didn’t dry out my skin either. It lasted a long time as one or two pumps is all you need.

Repurchase: Yes I would buy this foundation again.

Avon Big Daring Volume Mascara

I loved this mascara as it did what it says on the label it provided my eyelashes with va-va volume. It did clump, however, I’m a fan of that look.

Repurchase: Yes I would.

All opinions are completely my own and just because I didn’t get on with certain products doesn’t mean you might not.
