My Skincare Routine

Hi, my beauty’s hope all is well, today’s post is all about my Facial skincare routine. I will be sharing my morning and night time routine that helps my skin stay soft and glowing and removes all traces of makeup. I’m quite lucky in that I have normal/combination skin and rarely suffer from breakouts unless it’s the time of the month and even then they not bad. But in typical fashion, because I’ve planned to do a skincare post my skin is suffering from a few breakouts but I think this is due to fake tan. Does anyone else have this problem when they use fake tan on their face?

My Morning Routine

Skincare Routine Morning Routine Products

  1. First thing I do when starting my skincare routine is to take back my hair by either tying my hair back or wearing a headband. At the moment I’m using this cute bunny ears headband from Primark.
  2. After I have no stray hairs on my face, I then apply a few drops of the micellar water to a cosmetic pad. I then take the pad and apply to the face and in circular motions move the pad around the face, being especially gentle around the eye area. The micellar water is great for use in the morning as it is gentle on my skin and removes any traces of makeup and sweat easily. It’s also a timesaver as it requires no rinsing which is perfect for in a morning as I’m normally short on time. Skincare Routine Cleansing
  3. After I have cleansed my face I then pump a pea-sized amount of the Nip&Fabs Dragon Blood Serum on the back of my hand. I then add a dot of it to both my cheeks, forehead and chin and rub into the skin in upwards and outwards motions. This product enhances moisturisation and plumps up the skin. This Serum is also ideal to use as a primer.
  4. I then apply the Simple Kind To Skin Revitalising Eye Roll-on to under my eyes in light circular movements and pat any remaining liquid into the skin gently with my fingertips. This product in a morning wakes up tired eyes and cools the eye area as it contains cucumber. Skincare Routine - Eye Roll On.jpg
  5. And last but not least I pump a pea-sized of the Garnier Moisture Bomb 3in1 Day Cream moisturiser to the back of my clean hand. I then apply all over my face and neck in upwards and outwards movements. This skin makes my skin feel moisturised all day and provides skin with an instant radiant look and contains UVA protection. As this moisturiser doesn’t make your skin sticky you can apply makeup soon after which is a timesaver in the morning. Skincare Routine - After Morning Routine

My Night Time Routine

My night time routine is effective at removing all traces of makeup and providing the skin with Moisture.Skincare Routine Nighttime Routine Products

  1. Like in the morning routine the first thing that I do is take my hair back off my face by either tying my hair back or wearing a headband. This is especially important in my evening routine as it contains oil and no one wants greasy hair.
  2. In the evening I like to use not one but two cleansers to make sure I remove all traces of makeup even waterproof mascara. So the first cleanser that I use is the Simple kind to skin hydrating cleansing oil. I first apply a few drops of this into the palm of clean hands and then massage into my face. I then rinse my face and hands with warm water, and then remove any traces of oil with a warm damp flannel. This oil makes removing makeup even waterproof makeup easy as it just melts it off. It leaves skin feeling soft and glowy. Skincare Routine Nightime Cleansing Oil
  3. For my second cleanser, I use the simple kind to skin Purifying cleansing lotion. I apply the cleanser to my hands and rub it gently into my face, to remove the cleanser I take one large oval cosmetic pad and wet it with warm water and then remove the cleanser off my face using the pad. When all the cleanser is removed I pat my face dry with a towel. Skincare Routine - Nightime routine
  4. After I have cleansed my face I then pump a pea-sized amount of the Nip&Fabs Dragon Blood Serum on the back of my hand. I then add a dot of it to both my cheeks, forehead and chin and rub into the skin in upwards and outwards motions. This product enhances moisturisation and plumps up the skin
  5. After applying the serum I then use my night time eye cream which is the Simple kind to eyes soothing eye balm. I apply a tiny amount to the back of my hand and dot a tiny amount under each eye and then gently pat the balm into my skin. The eye balm reduces puffiness and provides moisturisation for the delicate eye area.
  6. And last but not least is my night time moisturiser which is the Garnier moisture bomb hydrating night cream. I apply a pea-sized amount to the back of my hand and then apply it to my forehead, both cheeks and chin and then massage into the skin using upward and outward movements. This moisturiser has a gel-like consistency and is perfect for this time of year. It leaves skin feeling smooth and plumper and not as dry. This night cream also doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily like some thicker consistency moisturisers can do especially at this time of year.Skincare Routine Selfie after Nightime routine

And there you have my skincare routine that seems to work for my skin type. I’m now ready to enjoy my evening in my jim-jams probably binge-watching something on Netflix or youtube.

March Favourites

Hi my beauty’s, hope all is well. Can you believe we’re already a quarter of a way through the year and it’s finally Spring even though someone really needs to notify the sun as we had lots of snow in March. March has been a busy month for me, as I started a new job role, and at the moment it is fitting around me and my family well and I do enjoy it. Also, March was the month I finally got my 20-month-old into her own bedroom and mostly sleeping through till morning. If you’re a parent you’ll know how much of a big achievement this is. Let me know in the comments if you would be interested in me mentioning in my monthly favourites, things that I helped find make parenting easier. Without further ado here are my monthly favourites.

March Faves 2018 - Beauty

L’Oréal Infailable Shaping Sticks

I picked up these three shaping sticks from boots at the beginning of the month as they were on offer for 3 for 2 and came with a free L’Oréal beauty blender. Since purchasing these 3 shaping sticks I have used them every day since. I have not used the blender however as I dislike using them (I know shock horror right, Please tell me I’m not the only one who doesn’t get the hype). I picked up two of the foundation sticks a light one in 120 vanilla rose for the base and to conceal, and the darker one in 210 Cappuccino to contour and add definition. I then bought the strobing stick in 501 Oh My Jewels.

I actually picked up the lighter shade thinking it was going to be a lot lighter and more of a highlight/concealer shade. This shades, however, is a perfect match for my skin tone as a foundation. The foundations easy to apply and blends into the skin like a dream due to its creamy formula. It provides medium coverage so concealer is needed for the areas where more coverage is needed.

The contour shade is rather warm toned so a light hand is needed when applying otherwise you can look rather orange. It blends into the skin so easily and is really pigmented so a little goes a long way and definitely does add warmth and definition to my face.

The strobing stick is easy to blend and provides a nice natural glow to the skin. Overall I love how these sticks work together to create a nice natural look for everyday makeup and make getting ready easier.

Nivea Lip Care Pearly Shine

March was a seriously cold month with what the beast from the east not just striking once but three times so wearing lip balm was essential to keep dry cracked lips at bay. This lip balm is perfect as it keeps lips feeling smooth and soft as it provides the delicate lip area with moisturiser and SPF protection and also provides lips with a subtle pearly shine great for wearing alone or with other lipsticks. The packagings also cute.

Too faced la Creme Colour Drenched Lipstick in Razzle Dazzle Rose.

I was shopping at TK Maxx when I discovered this little gem for £7.99, I mean I’ve heard all about two-faced beauty products and well being too much of a cheapskate I would never buy one of their lipsticks at full price I mean I’m not made of money. That was however until I tried this lipstick I mean I’m sold, it’s one of the nicest feeling lipsticks I have ever had on my lips. It makes them feel so soft and hydrated. The colour is the perfect pink for me and it’s super pigmented and has a nice shine effect to it. The colour lasts a few hours.

Checked Baker Boy Cap

Another month another new hat to add to my hat collection. I swear at this rate I’m going to need another room just for my hats. I was in TK Maxx and saw this beauty and tried it on and it matched my outfit perfectly so I had to buy it. I love checks and plan on adding more of them to my wardrobe.

Sunglasses

Somewhere in between the rain and snow, March did surprise us with the odd sunny day in which I decided to bring out the shades. Sunglasses are one of my favourite things about Spring/summer. They hide a multitude of sins and you can fall asleep on your commute without anybody knowing. I also love how they make an outfit feel complete.

Nescafé Gold Instant Coffee Sachets

This is not a sponsored post by Nescafé or anything I just really loved their flavoured coffee sachets this month. Every Monday I’d pop into my local ASDA and pick up a new flavour of coffee to try that week. I’d look forward to waking up in a morning to the taste of these delicious coffees. It really is the small things in life for me. My favourite is definitely the toffee nut, and white chocolate and pistachio mocha.

Love Lessons by Jacqueline Wilson

A month ago I went into my mum’s loft and came across a box of treasures including photos, magazines, MP3 players and this book. Jacqueline Wilson was my favourite author as a child and teenager. I read and loved all of her books as a youngster especially this one and the girls series. Rereading this book again was very nostalgic and reminded me of being 14 and having a crush on a teacher I mean haven’t we all. This book is about a teenage girl and her sister who’s dad is very controlling and home schools them and keeps them away from normality. When suddenly her dad’s taken ill the girls are thrown in at the deep end and sent back to school. The only person one of the girls can relate to is the handsome art teacher and develops a crush, he couldn’t possibly feel the same way, could he. ‘re reading this as an adult it has slightly a darker feel to it than reading it the first time.

Discovering Personal Style – 1) Style Inspiration

Hi, my beauties. Hope all is well? I started this little blog a little over a year ago and in this time I have posted over twenty-seven outfits. In me posting these twenty-seven outfits have been able to identify sorta what my personal style is and what style I’m drawn most towards.  In this Discovering Personal Style Part 1 post I will show you how I discovered my personal style using style inspiration from others and Pinterest.

OOTD

Outfit Details

  1. Finding who your style icons are and creating a mood board

The first step I did on Pinterest was I created a style icons and style inspiration board and just started pinning away any style and outfits I found cute and would wear. My style icons are Kate Moss, Stevie Nicks, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts. Who Are your Style Icons?

Kate Moss

Kate Moss is a Style icon for many, myself included theirs, not a look that she can’t seem to pull off. She’s renowned for her feminine but edgy effortless rock chic boho style. Typical items she’s seen in are leopard print, faux fur coats, ankle boots, black skinny jeans, blazers and bold prints.

Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks is the original Boho chick and her style is timeless. I mean how good did she look in American Horror Story The Coven?  I’ll be honest up until a few years ago I didn’t know who she was, (*hangs head in shame) until someone commented on an outfit that I was wearing and said it was very Stevie Nicks. I instantly went home and googled and well my love and admiration for this fashion Icon were sealed. Typical items of Stevie Nicks wardrobes are Kimonos, flares, boho peasant tops, gypsy skirts, headbands, etc

Vanessa Hudgens

Vannesa Hudgens always looks stylish from her bohemian looks to her edgier looks. I love her Coachella outfits. Her style often includes her wearing feminine boho maxi dresses with edgy leather jacket and shades or in all black ensembles but still with a laidback boho vibe.  Typical items she wears are maxi dresses, leather jackets, boho style dresses, patterned wide leg trousers etc.

Emma Roberts

I love Emma Roberts Style as she always looks so stylish and on trend but manages to put her own little spin on the look and completely make it her own. I think she has quite an edgy style as she adds quirky little accessories to make a look completely her own. Typical items she wears are cute little handle top handbags, cat-eye shades, cropped jeans, velvet heels, and she’s not afraid to experiment with different styles and prints.

2. Categorise Your pins And Style Icons

I then Categorised and identified which style my icons mostly wore and what fashion I tend to gravitate most towards from the list of different styles mentioned below.

Edgy Fashion  – If you like to set trends rather than follow trends. Edgy can also mean you like to mix fashion styles together, for example, you might wear a girly tea dress but add a biker jacket and biker boots to toughen up the look, or you might wear a bohemian maxi dress then add a preppy blazer. Typical items found in an edgy wardrobe are leather (faux leather items) jackets, biker boots, and statement pieces that make you stand out from the crowd

Bohemian fashion – Bohemian fashion takes inspiration from gypsy and hippie looks. Typical items found in a bohemian wardrobe are maxi skirts, dresses, floppy hats, ethnic style jewellery, slouchy boots and hobo bags. Famous people with bohemian style wardrobes include Vanessa Hudgens, The Olsen’s, Sienna Miller and Nicole Ritchie.

Grunge Fashion – Grunge fashion is the epitome of the don’t care look. Grunge fashion is somewhat a mixture of indie and rock fashion. Typical items found in a Grunge Wardrobe are plaid shirts, ripped jeans, slouchy cardigans ripped tights and dr martens and ditzy floral dresses.  Famous people with Grunge wardrobes are the late but legendary Kurt Cobain the man who inspired it all, Gwen Stefani and Taylor Momsen.

Trend focused – If your style is trend focused you tend to wear whatever is in fashion and stay up to date with all the trends. Typical items found in this wardrobe may include this seasons its fashion items.

Athleisure – Athleisure fashion is a style of clothing worn for athletic apparel but suitable for casual everyday wear. Typical items found in this wardrobe are tracksuits, leggings, sports tops and trainers.  Celebrities with Athleisure wardrobes are Rhianna, Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid

Minimalistic – Minimalism style means that you stick to a limited colour palette, wear simple clothes without no frills or wild prints and wear minimalist accessories. Celebrities with Minimalistic style include Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sofia Coppola.

Classic – A simple elegant style that is timeless and not affected by changes in fashion. Items normally found in this wardrobe are simple but elegant pieces such as the LBD, trench coat, classic white shirt, court shoe etc. Famous people with classic style include the late but iconic Audrey Hepburn, Emma Watson and Kate Middleton.

AndrogynousAndrogynous fashion is a style that aims to avoid gender stereotypes and dress either typical of male or female style. Famous people with Androgynous wardrobes are David Bowie, Annie Lennox, Cara Delivigne, and Tilda Swinton.

Preppy  A person who favours or is viewed as favouring clothing style or behaviour associated with traditional preparatory schools. Famous people (characters) with preppy wardrobes include Blair Waldorf, Taylor Swift and Alexa Chung.

Vintage  Likes to dress like a particular era from the 1920s to 1990s clothing is often one-off pieces found at thrift shops. Famous people with Vintage wardrobes include Florence Welch and Dita Von- Teese.

3. Identify your Label.

Thirdly after Categorising your Style icons and images into different categories, you might be able to see what style you are drawn more too. For Example, you might have more pins in the Classic mood board than Grunge. From mine, I can see I am drawn to the edgy and bohemian fashion.  What are yours??

Stay tuned for Discovering your Personal Style Part 2 – The Wardrobe Edit.
